On the Norwegian National Tourist Road 520, stands an abandoned Zinc mine called ‘ The Allmannajuvet zinc mines ‘. They were in operation from 1881 to 1899. Even though the Mines are no more operational, there is an amazing and unique mine tour in Summer Season which takes us inside the mine and helps us understand how the lives of the miners were during those days. The newly constructed surreal looking structures in the area are designed by renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor.
