Valberg Tower is the old watchtower and watchmens' museum at the top of the hill behind the colorful waterfront sea houses. In 1853 the tower was the highest point in the town and used to warn of fires.


Byparken and Breiavatnet form the core of Stavanger city center. Breiavatnet gets its water from Mosvatnet through Kannikbekken. The principal at Kongsgård is the only one who has fishing rights in Breiavatnet. The area is home to one pair of swans, mallards, mallards, coots, and several gull species. Also, several more exotic birds are guests, especially in the winter months. In Byparken, it is also popular to feed the many city pigeons, sparrows, and finches.
