Welcome to Bergen. We’re heading into late November and in Bergen that means the it’s once again time for Pepperkakebyen, or the Gingerbread Town. Read about Pepperkakebyen and see photos here: https://www.lifeinnorway.net/pepperkakebyen-gingerbread-town/

Every year, local schools, kindergartens and other groups from Bergen create miniature houses, trains, cars and ships all made from real gingerbread. Organised by the Bergen City Centre Association, Pepperkakebyen is said to be the world’s largest gingerbread town, and has even inspired several others around the world.

I visited Pepperkakebyen on the opening day of the 2022 season to make this video. This place is incredible and well worth a visit as you’ll soon see. What you cannot see, however, is the wonderful aroma of gingerbread filling the room. Don’t come here hungry. Enjoy the tour!
