The "Casa Kolonihagen," designed by Norwegian architect Tommie Wilhelmsen, consists of only two spaces: a sleeping area and a living area contained within two cubes raised from the ground at different heights, completely immersed in nature. It is a small vacation home occupying just 26 square meters of space within the Parcell Garden of Stavanger, Norway.

An example of "molecular architecture," the project comprises prisms joined at various heights to exploit the uneven terrain. These prisms determine the functional distribution of the interior spaces, whose division is therefore perceivable from the outside.

Colors and materials chosen create a strong contrast between the exterior and interior. The earthy colors of stone and wood outside testify to the desire for integration with the surrounding natural greenery. This aesthetic choice contrasts markedly with the abstract and minimalist white of the interior spaces.

"The project," explains Wilhelmsen, "was completed at a total cost of only 10,000 euros. It is an extreme example of low-cost construction." The house is the result of the architect's craftsmanship, who emphasizes, "As an architect, I do not intend to observe the city from above as if it were an object to manipulate and dominate. I believe in working on the ground, in nature... building a house with one's own hands is the first step in the construction process."

Wilhelmsen describes it as a "lifestyle choice." Casa Kolonihagen represents an example of an ecological lifestyle, completely immersed in nature. "An alternative way to spend the summer in a Scandinavian city."
