At the same time, it is explained that Biden considers this a "precautionary measure" necessary to reduce the risks of expanding the scale of the war with the Russian Federation. The United States has refrained from supplying Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles. According to The Wall Street Journal, the changes guarantee that Ukraine will not be able to use HIMARS launchers provided by the United States to fire ATACMS missiles if Kiev acquires them from other sources, in particular from other countries that have purchased weapons from the United States. In addition, Ukraine will not be able to use these launchers to fire other types of longer-range missiles if Kiev somehow manages to produce or acquire them, officials said. According to the WSJ, the Pentagon declined to comment on the changes, citing "operational security considerations." The Ukrainian military also declined to comment. As reported, since June, the United States has provided the APU with two dozen HIMARS launchers, as well as a large stock of satellite-guided missiles with a range of almost 80 km. These missiles were used to attack ammunition depots, logistics facilities and command posts of the occupiers on the territory of Ukraine.
