Haraldshaugen og Haraldshaugen Camping - August 2019

Riksmonumentet Haraldshaugen, lokalt også kjent som Haraldsstøtten, er et monument til minne om Harald Hårfagres samling av Norge i 872. Støtten ble avduket i 1872 i forbindelse med tusenårsjubileet for slaget i Hafrsfjord, der Norge ifølge sagaen ble samlet til ett rike. Monumentet står på Gard like nord for bykjernen i Haugesund på stedet der Harald Hårfagre sies å ha blitt gravlagt.
Monumentet er tegnet av arkitekt Christian Christie, som en stor gravhaug omgitt av en granittmur med 29 bautasteiner, en fra hver av de gamle norske fylkene. På toppen av haugen står en 17 meter høy granittobelisk, med fire bronsepaneler rundt basis. Hvert av panelene avbilder viktige scener fra Harald Hårfagres liv og levnet.
Haraldshaugen har vært et av Haugesunds fremste klenodier helt siden avdukingen. I forbindelse med tusenårsskiftet ble Haraldshaugen valgt til Haugesunds tusenårssted. Nærmeste nabo til Haraldhaugen er Haraldshaugen Camping. En fortreffelig camping med alle fasiliteter og med utsikt mot Atlanterhavet/nordsjøen.

The national monument Haraldshaugen, locally also known as the Haralds monument, is a monument in memory of Harald Hårfagre's gathering of Norway in 872. The support was unveiled in 1872 in connection with the millennial anniversary of the Battle of Hafrsfjord, where Norway according to the saga was gathered into one kingdom. The monument stands on Gard just north of the city center in Haugesund at the site where Harald Hårfagre is said to have been buried.
The monument was designed by architect Christian Christie, as a large burial mound surrounded by a granite wall with 29 stone boulders, one from each of the old Norwegian counties. At the top of the mound stands a 17 meter high granite Obelisk, with four bronze panels around the base. Each of the panels depicts important scenes from Harald Hårfagre's life and life.
Haraldshaugen has been one of Haugesund's foremost memorabilia since the unveiling. In connection with the turn of the millennium, Haraldshaugen was elected to Haugesund's Millennial Place.
