Norway, Stavanger - Let`s Visit Sola Ruinkirke (Sola Ruin Church)
In Norway, just outside Stavanger in the region Sola, here is the placement for the Sola ruin church (Sola Ruinkirke), it was built in the 12th century and was in use until 1842 then the decay sat in, and was not in use for a long time.
The Sola Ruin church (Sola Ruinkirke) was left as a ruin until it was bought by the painter Johan Bennetter in 1871.
He rebuilt this church into his own residence and studio and he used this until 1907. After that, the Sola Ruin church was again left as a ruin.
When world war II was ongoing then large parts of the church were demolished by the German forces, but luckily they did in such a manner, that they marked every stone with numbers and where its placement was, so in the 1980s, the restoration work began again, and a collaboration between the National Heritage Board and Sola municipality, and as the current church is now the Sola Ruinchurch was completed in 1995.
Since then, the church has been frequently visited, and both concerts and other gatherings are arranged.
The Sola Ruin Church (Sola Ruinkirke) is also one of the region's most popular churches to get married in.
The church has a capacity for 68 people.
