Tonight marks the season opener of the NXTGEN Racing Formula Fixed FF1600 series as hosted on iRacing! We shall be taking a look back at all of the racing action which occurred on Thursday 27th April with the aim of bringing it to you as if it were live!

With an open-wheel type series in hot-demand by our community; and the Ray FF1600 being introduced to iRacing earlier this year, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to run an all new series based on the British racing machine. Produced by Ray Racecar Engineering, the 116 horsepower Formula Ford specification machine is defined most by its lack of front and rear wings meaning it is sensitive through corners as drivers aim to extract the most out of its Ford Kent 1.6 litre engine. Add into the mix its low mass of 424 kilograms, and you have a machine that presents a great challenge for drivers both experienced and brand new!

As for the premise of this series: our drivers shall compete in six rounds on a weekly basis. In each round there shall be two sprint races. The second race shall involve a partial reverse grid with the top half of the field inverted based on the results of the first race. Additionally, drivers shall be required to use fixed set-ups meaning this shall be a test of their command of the car from lights-out to chequered flag.

As for our host venue to get the season underway, where better than the classic British circuit of Oulton Park? Located in the Cheshire countryside, the track is a nerve-wracking combination of elevation changes and blind apex corners which can make even the calmest of drivers feel unsettled!

So as we mark the start of the season, who shall set the pace? Tune in and find out!

Our approximate schedule for today is as follows (times in BST/UTC+1):
1700 Broadcast Starts
1715 Race 2 (20 minutes)

P.S. Due to technical difficulties we shall only be covering the second race from Round 1 today.
