Russia's First Land-Based Salmon Fish-farm Is About To Begin Operations

Did you know that Russia’s Fish consumption is declining each year? 10 % of the country’s population doesn’t eat fish at all. An all new 650,000 hectares fish farm in the city called Vologda is about to change that, and in today’s video we’ll explain how.

Russia is getting ready to launch its first land-based salmon fish-farm, and early results are impressive. The farm, has been under construction for a long time and is now ready to begin producing fish.__ To keep their footprint small and their fish harvest high, the farm will use a closed-cycle system. The expectation is that this farm will be able to supply the rising demand for salmon in Russia.

__People all throughout the globe like eating salmon, which is a popular species. This delecious fish is also a great source of healthful omega-3 fatty acids and other minerals. The vast majority of salmon eaten over the last several decades has come from wild-caught stocks. But now the production of farmed salmon on a large scale , will soon begin in Russia at its brand-new facility. The first of its type in Russia, thid new aquaculture project has the potential to increase employment opportunities and produce 2,500 metric tons of Atlantic salmon by the end of nect second year.
