The hiking trail in Sandvedparken follows Storåna and is suitable for everyone. The area in the middle of the city quickly gives you the feeling of being out in nature. Here you can hear the birds chirping and the stream chirping on its way to the fjord. You do not have to go long before you can sit down. Children can play on several playgrounds along the trip and there are many benches along the river from Sandnes to Ganddal. The park has both large forests and a meandering river. This trip stops at Sørbøtunet, but the hiking trail continues all the way to Ganddal. The trip is one of several hiking trails close to the city center in Sandnes that have been selected with the idea that those who are in a wheelchair or come with a pram should also be able to complete the trip. The trips are not marked, so remember to bring a printout of the map or a smartphone. The trips are decided in collaboration between Sandnes municipality, Stavanger Tourist Association, and the Council for people with disabilities.

Planetstien in Sandvedparken, you can on a walk or bike ride feel the distances in our solar system. It is a copy of our solar system, on a scale of 1: 1 billion. If you walk one meter on the path, it is equivalent to 1 million kilometers in space. Mercury is closest to the sun, 59.9 meters away.

If you take the trip along Planetstien, you will really realize how much emptiness there is in our solar system! From the sun, the planets come in a row up Sandvedparken. The last planet, Pluto, is located along Stokkelandsvannet. Download information about the planets.

Sandvedparken
Sandnes' green lung extends 3.5 km along the Storånå watercourse from the center of Sandnes to Stokkalandsvatnet in Ganddal. Sand volleyball court, playground, and idyllic picnic areas can be found here. In the park is Skeianetunet with three houses that are today protected. The round around Stokkalandsvatnet is around four km. The landscape is varied and characterized by pastures, heather moors, and woodlands. A lot of roof pipes grow in Stokkalandsvatnet. At Jæren, these were braided into mats and used for cladding houses. Here there is rich wildlife and varied vegetation.
