This is a recent video of the traditional bonfire which is called "St. Hans Feiring", here in Norway, observed annually on the 24th of June. This particular gathering is in Stavanger, Norway.
Some Scandinavian countries and also Canada observe the same tradition. Some say that this is a pagan tradition but over the course of time became a tradition enjoyed by many.
The local community gathers around this giant bonfire with fun and games for the kids. A live band also performs during this gathering, and food is also available in some stalls at a reasonable price.
There is a small entrance fee for this gathering, and you are entitled to a raffle coupon which gives you a chance to win some cash prizes.
