The band started as a death/doom metal outfit, being one of the first bands within the genre to utilize soprano vocals. Their third album, Aégis, demonstrated a more straightforward gothic metal style. On Musique, they took on a more industrial/techno sound and left behind their old romantic aesthetic. They also transitioned lyrically to more contemporary themes dealing with subjects such as urban life and technology. With the release of Storm, they returned to a gothic metal sound, but still maintained some electronic influences.

On March 1st, 2010 the band announced that they would split up on October 2nd, 2010 after 17 years of activity.
