Day One - Dover

So, our adventure begins. We’re going to Norway with Saga Cruises. Leaving Dover in the UK and visiting Bergen, Skjolden, Flam and Stavanger with various outings on the way.
Our driver picked us up from our home in Norfolk and we arrived at Dover 2.5hrs later to take the required Covid Lateral Flow tests prior to boarding. All clear, then through passport control and on to the ship, The Spirit of Discovery. Our cases were delivered to our cabin whilst we went off to explore the ship. Amazingly we were some of the first passengers on board, so we had a great time finding out what the ship had to offer.
Saga Cruises are all inclusive so there were no extras to pay for meals or drinks. So, it was lunch with wine and then a welcome glass of Champagne to celebrate embarkation. The ship gently negotiated its way out of Dover harbour and headed out into the Channel and the North Sea. The sun was shining, although a bit chilly, and the sea was surprisingly calm.
After a rest in our cabin, it was a shower and change for dinner in the Grill, after which we headed for the Britannia Lounge for drinks and to dance the night away to their live band. Must remember to put the clocks back an hour tonight!!

Tomorrow is a day in the North Sea.
