There are over 700 islands dotted around the coast of Scotland which all boast stunning views, incredible landscapes, and fascinating attractions to uncover. Shetland, for example, is home to sandy shores, splendid views and one of the finest sand tombolos in Europe, St Ninian’s Isle, which could be compared to the beautiful Elafonissos in Greece.

One of the world’s most magical natural phenomena, the Northern Lights are a mesmerising sight to see. Did you know you can spot them right here in Scotland? It may surprise you, but northern Scotland actually lies at the same latitude as Stavanger in Norway and Nunivak Island in Alaska which means that you’re in with a good chance of spotting the ‘Mirrie Dancers’ on a trip to Scotland.

The North Coast 500 driving route is famed across the world. Touring 500 miles around the coast of northern Scotland, starting and finishing in Inverness, explore fairy-tale castles, stunning beaches, fascinating ruins and dramatic landscapes. Its meandering country tracks and beautiful bends will lead you through some of Scotland's finest coastal scenery, while the winding road to Kinlochewe offers one of the most iconic views on the route.

Make sure you make time to explore the wondrous Dunrobin Castle in the town of Golspie in Sutherland. It might look like a French château with its towering conical spires, but Dunrobin is the most northerly of Scotland's great houses and offers a tantalising taste of the aristocratic lifestyle.
