“Marine plastic litter”, “marine debris”, “marine plastic pollution”, “ocean plastic pollution” – many different terms are used when we discuss the scope of a new global agreement. What is the problem we want to tackle? Are these different or similar names for the same problems, but different in terms of solutions or not really? The scope of the new agreement will be key to ensure that it becomes an effective and ambitious tool.
