In 2020, the United Nations World Food Programme was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts in the fight against hunger and its contribution to creating conditions for peace ????

In our event during the Arendal Week, the then Executive Director, David M. Beasley, accepted the invitation to give an introduction about the current situation, which is critical for millions of people.

It has been previously estimated that over 800 million people go to bed hungry every night, approximately 280 million people are in famine, and a staggering 45 million people are on the brink of a food catastrophe. At the same time, we produce more food in the world than is necessary to feed the global population.

We also know that food production and distribution account for about 1/3 of the world's climate burden. Therefore, these issues are interconnected ????

But how do we solve them and lay the groundwork for peace?

Beasley's introduction will be followed by a panel discussion featuring him:
