Explore Stavanger Cathedral and its park, the old town with the Canning Factory Museum and the old fire watchtower or Valberg where today you can still ring the bell (or at least you could in 2007!)

Stavanger is a great place to explore for the day. The ship docks right in the very heart of town and during the summer season it can be a most pleasant place to walk-around. There are several traditional style Norwegian bars and restaurants, but venture up the side streets and you meet with a scene you would expect to find in the Caribbean. Bright coloured huts selling all sorts of weird and wonderful items.

The small white houses that are instantly noticeable from your ship are also worth exploring, but please be respectful of the people that live in the houses.

Norwegian Fjords cruises are incredibly popular thanks to the stunning and natural beauty that is on offer. Cruise lines visiting Norway include: Regent Seven Seas, Cunard, Silversea, Celebrity Cruises, P&O Cruises, Holland America Line and more. Summer is high cruise season but you often find cruise ships visit year round, with some stopping in ports such as Bergen or Stavanger en-route to the Arctic Circle.

Other destinations often featured on Fjords itineraries include: Flam, Geiranger, Olden and Bergen.
