Royal Caribbean Shore Excursion to Pulpit Rock from Stavanger on Explorer Of the Seas.
It's very unusual for us to take a shore excursion with the ship. However if you want to visit Pulpit Rock when in Stavanger Norway we would 100% recommend not to take an independent trip bit book with the ship.
To get from Stavanger to Pulpit Rock you need to take a 45min bus ride, 10 minutes on a ferry then another 20min bus ride followed by an 8km round trip hike. Just too much too risk on your own, if you miss the ferry connection it's a half hour wait for the next one.
The hike itself is very VERY difficult. You must be reasonably fit and mobile. It involves walking on steep rocky paths with sheer drops to your side as you get close to the top. It was much harder than we anticipated and some of our group did not make it to the top. Having said that the achievement of getting to Pulpit Rock is simply amazing. The video does not do it justice.
We would recommend this tour as a must do!
