Hello!
In this video, I share with you my Travel Art Journal of My solo traveling in Norway and Denmark. In total, I spent 15 days in Norway and Denmark, the cities I visited during these 15 days, included Kongsberg, Stavanger, Tromso, Honningsvag, NordKapp, Hammerfest, Alta, Copenhagen, Odense, and so on by transportation of flight, cruise, car, train, bus. In this travel art journal, I combined writing, collage and painting/drawing, etc. And later on, when I am back in the home studio, I work on larger canvas landscape paintings. The traveling memories and journals always help a lot for further art creation.


1. Why I started my solo Traveling?
I originally came from Shanghai China. I came to the USA for my second master’s degree in January 2016. And I was studying abroad in Italy for the summer. And after finishing my courses in Italy, I decided to have a solo traveling before going back to the USA for the new semester. In my heart, I really feel solo traveling is challenging a person’s ability to organizing, managing the flexibility, risk-management, decision-making.

2. Why I chose Norway for my destination?
Norway has amazing landscapes, and the Arctic Circle is so charming after once visiting Alaska for Northern Light. And the summertime was a period of the midnight sun in the arctic circle. Nature is so healing and inspiring.

3. What to prepare and how to plan?
To be honest, I did not prepare too much on this traveling. Even the plan was very rough and I only ordered a one-way ticket to Norway. When the traveling begins, I did not even decide which day to finish the travelings, so I had a very flexible plan on this journey, most of the cities I visited were unplanned and mostly decided at that moment.

4. What to learn from a solo-traveling?
I had to very honestly listen to my own voice and to talk with myself. Most importantly, I prayed a lot. It was the perfect timing to have a closer relationship with God through prayer and journaling during the travelings. I gradually realized that as A traveler, she might not talk too much, but in her heart, it is full of stories and observation. A journey is a story, which is unique and special, full of wonders and unexpected amazing adventures. And most important, prayer is so powerful. God is with me all the way on my journey, traveling and daily life, every step I walk, he protects. Praise the Lord for giving me strength and courage.
