Career
The Young Norwegians
Lillebjørn Nilsen played from 1966 in the duo The Young Norwegians, which consisted of himself and Bjørn Morisse. Since Bjørn Morisse was the tallest of the two, he was nicknamed Store-Bjørn, while Bjørn Nilsen was called Little Bear. [3] In 1967 Lillebjørn Nilsen joined the music line at Hartvig Nissens school in Oslo. Here he met Steinar Ofsdal, who joined The Young Norwegians. [4] They released some singles on Troll Records, followed by the albums Things on our mind and Music. The Young Norwegians disbanded in 1968.

1970s
The big breakthrough came in 1973, when he released the album Portrait with his own classical lyrics and melodies. Most recently in the 1970s he participated in the group Ballade!, consisting of himself, Lars Klevstrand, Åse Kleveland and Birgitte Grimstad. He also often toured with Steinar Ofsdal. The late 70s and early 80s became an artistic flowering period for Nilsen. The collaboration with Hot Club de Norvège and Jon Larsen started in 1982 with«Tanta til Beate».

Solo career since 1993
After the album Nær Nilsen (1993), Lillebjørn Nilsen has not released or performed new songs, with the exception of several contributions on tribute albums to both Vidar Sandbeck (both alone and together with Gitarkameratene) and Erik Bye (where he sang the visen Anna Lovinda).
Lillebjørn Nilsen attended the Memorial in Oslo on 22 July 2012, which was a concert for the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Norway 2011. He performed Good Night Oslo and Children of the Rainbow.

Portrait is a music album released by Lillebjørn Nilsen on Polydor Records in 1973. [3]The album was re-released on Grappa Music Group – Lillebjørn Nilsen's current label – in 2001 and 2003. [5] The latter release with the addition of five bonus tracks, several of which are recordings from concerts. [6]
Lillebjørn Nilsen blew his way into the Norwegian people's consciousness with this album – which is Lillejbørn's second solo album in the series – and the first to a renewed interest in the vice tradition – popularly called «visebølgen» – also as a means of achieving justice and removing the class divide. The album – which was Lillebjørn Nilsen's big breakthrough – was 23 weeks on the VG-list in 1973 and 1974, of which eight weeks were in first place [6] [1]. His success eventually led to him receiving several assignments for NRK, together with Øystein Sunde. [7]
