Why Don't Cruise Lines Send Ships To The Bahamas For Hurricane Dorian Victims People are wondering why don't the cruise lines send their cruise ships to the vicitms of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. The reason is that the ports were so badly hit that cruise ships can't dock there and there are many jagged pieces of debris just under the water line that were caught in the storm surge like containers, cars, trucks and even buses that could cause severe damage to a cruise ship's hull. All of the residents of the Grand Bahama island need medical and logistical help for restoring electric power and road repairs. But in the meantime, helicopters are the best way to get help in and people out for the next week at least. Cruise lines have pledged to donate cash to various charity organizations like the Red Cross for immediate relief and you can too.
