Bamburia - Flute Day with Wil Offermans in Stavanger, Norway

Bamburia is a composition by Wil Offermans which has been published by music publisher Zimmermann, Germany. In the score text we read: "Bamburia is a composition for 1 flute solo, 5 flutes and 1 bass flute. Alternatively, the bass flute part can also be performed on a regular flute... A main element in "Bamburia" is the fascinating Spanish flamenco rhythm: the buleria. Basically, the buleria is a rhythm in 12-beats and can appear in many forms, like with the accents on 12, 3, 7, 8 and 10, while counting starts on the 11... Through performing Bamburia the players can learn and enjoy the buleria-rhythm. ...in the central part the flutists put their flute aside and perform the buleria-rhythm by clapping the hands... Special techniques used include the 'tongue pizzicato' and the 'breath attack'.”

This video has been recorded at the presentation concert of the Flute Day by Wil Offermans in Stavanger, Norway for flutists and flute teachers from Culture Schools in Rogaland (Stavanger, Sandnes, Sola, Egersund and Time) and the University of Stavanger. The event took place at the Eikenes Sal of the Faculty of Performing Arts in Stavanger, Norway on February 10th and 11th 2024 and was organised by the Rogaland Fløyteforum. 'Bamburia' was performed by participants and flute teachers and conducted by Wil Offermans.
